Dateline: 12 June 2005 On June 5th 89 volunteers, mostly from the San Antonio Texas area, arrived in Uspantán to begin an intensive week of providing surgical and medical help to people of the area who normally would not have access to medical help, especially critical surgical help. These volunteers were part of the Helps International team www.helpsintl.org that has been working in Guatemala for over 20 years. We are very appreciative that Helps International sent 5 team members to Las Pacayas for the day to offer medical assistance to our neighbors. This outreach team did yeoman's service at the Uspanteco Center. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!
...at
8 a.m. Margie started screening the people who wanted to see the doctor. This
was done so that
The
pharmacist had her hands full in distributing medicines in order to keep the
line moving. The
nurse took the vital signs of the patients before they were examined by the doctor.
