Greetings
from Guatemala
{December 24 `06} Margot & Stan McMillen in Longview
Welcome and
thanks for the opportunity to share with you,
news and information from
the Uspantán Side of the Mountain.
Then all the people
went away to eat and drink,
to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy,
because they now understood the words
that had been made known to them.
Nehemiah 8:14
This is the view of the The
Uspantán Mountain from our home in the small, rural town of San Miguel
Uspantán in the department (state) of El Quiché. It is 9,794 feet
high. This picture was taken from an altitude of 6046 feet.
The Uspantán mountain is at the east end of the spur which branches out
from the Rocky Mountain chain of mountains (also known as the Continental
Divide). This spur is known as the Cuchumatanes. From a
vantage point, twenty miles west of Uspantán, along this mountain ridge,
a person on a clear day can see all 14 volcanoes of Guatemala.
