At 8 a.m. on Monday the 25th the recording of the script for THE HOPE video in Uspanteco began. This was the culmination of months of work for Margie and our co-workers: Cristobal, Julio, and Miguel.  [Stan's role was keeping the revised scripts printed out for their use.]

Two recording technicians from Viña Studios arrived Sunday afternoon in Las Pacayas and set up their equipment.  At 6 p.m. Thursday they packed up that equipment for the 6 hour return trip to Solola where the offices of Viña Studios is located.

In recording sessions, the level of perfection required to get it just right, can lead to impatience, conflict of opinions, and fatigue among the group.  Your prayers for this project certainly kept those possible roadblocks out of the way.  Thank you and all praise to our LORD for the team He put together. May this video be an effective tool in telling all Uspantecos how much God loves them through Jesus Christ.

To the left above, is the first attempt at a recording booth, but... then came dogs barking, corn grinder motor putt-putting away, and the next door neighbor turned the volume up on his electronic keyboard.  So we moved the booth to the store room where mattresses and sleeping bags provided sufficient sound insulation to carry on thru thick and thin!  It got a little warm in the 5 x 5 x 7 foot space, but "necessity is the mother of invention".

L to R: Pedro, Isidro, Miguel. Pedro and Isidro are recording on the laptop computer while Miguel is listening to Cristobal to make sure that Cristobal is following the script.

It took 36 hours of recording to record the 80 minutes of Uspanteco. Margie was at the table with earphones monitoring what was being recorded and observing how the Uspanteco was synchronizing with the visual.  That is 'cool' Julio in the sun glasses.

On Thursday afternoon, the complete video was viewed by all to give final approval and to check for any possible errors.  All praise to our LORD, only one minor change had to be made, a pause in the audio had to be reduced by 1 second!

May Our Father God's Name Be Made Big!
