Dateline: February 28, 2005 In the Uspantán area the farmers are fortunate to have access to mountain springs with water that can be channeled into sprinkler irrigation systems that are gravity fed. Where this water is available then the small farmer can raise exportable crops the year around. The year around temperate climate makes this possible. Without irrigation the farmer is restricted to one crop a year of the traditional corn and black beans. Following is the photo story of how the availability of water can completely change the complexion of the local scene.
